Founded on 24th March 1920, on the back of the “war to end all wars”,
Aurora, the dawn, was born out of a deep felt sense of hope for better days.
Aurora Lodge is made up of 50+ members, all deeply commited to their civic and charitble responsibilities. We all welcome you onto our website.

The values of a Freemason
Integrity
Rather than working on buildings like the masons of old, today’s Freemasons focus on building themselves as people of integrity, and membership provides the structure to help achieve that goal.
Friendship
Freemasonry is embracing people from all religions and political persuasions, and provides the common foundation for strong friendships between members, many of which will last for life.
With a membership of more than 200,000 people drawn from communities across the UK, Freemasonry brings people together irrespective of their race, religion or any other perceived differences.
Kindness and charitable giving are in a Freemason’s DNA. Members are encouraged to give back, be it with their time or otherwise, a crucial lesson contained in our ceremonies.

An eclectic and welcoming group
Aurora Lodge prides itself in its membership, rich in diversity of ideas and walks of life.
A place where the 20 years old rubs shoulder with the somewhat over 80, where the architect, the student, and the office worker enjoy each other’s company week in, week out.
More importantly, we make sure that Wednesday night is that night in the week when our members can forget about their troubles and simply indulge and relish life in great company.

Higlights of our Masonic Calendar
Every year, Aurora puts on a busy social and Masonic calendar for its members, family, and friends. From snooker, to day-trips, to the theatre. Below are some of the many hihglights on our Masonic schedule.
March – Installation Banquet
We celebrate the installation of a new Worshpiful Master to lead the lodge into the ensuing year with our always-popular installation banquet.
April – First Ceremony
April marks the first ceremony of the new master and his team, usually through an awe-inducing initiation ceremony.
August – Summer Recess
We officially take a break during August, but we are more than likely to still meet up on Wednesdays for a pint (any excuse to get together will do!).
September – Masters’ Night
As Leeds Freemasons are very united, we invite the Masters of all the other lodges to visit us for a night of friendship in September.
October- Fraternal Visit
October marks the annual visit of our daughter lodge, the Lodge of the Morning Star, keeping those family bonds tight.
November – Ladies Informal
Our partners join us for dinner and get a glimpse to what we get up to when not at home – interested prospective members welcome too!
December – Christmas Carols
Join the tone-deaf brethren of Aurora Lodge in singing carols while enjoying a typical festive menu to close the year in style.
January – Burns Night
Celebrating the memory of our brother Robert Burns in a very Scottish atmosphere with Haggis and bagpipes. All kilts welcome!
February – Scroll Night
In February, we elect a new Worshipful Master for the following year, with entertainement provided by the junior brethren (may contain roasts).
February – Ladies Formal
The Master’s proverbial Swan Song, a gala evening where everyone puts on their best formal dress, celebrates the Master and dances the night away.
